Streamlining Export Operations

THE challenge

The client faced rising operational cost pressures attributed to macroeconomic influences.

It was found that the supply chain model used for exporting final product inventories to foreign Clients was ineffective and eroded profit margins.

Additionally, the client possessed a state-of-the-art containerisation facility that was inactive and not leveraged to enhance the export process.

  • The containerization facility underwent renovation and was reintegrated into beneficial operations.

  • Containerisation was backward integrated at the point of production.

  • An industrial monitoring system was installed to continuously record loading activities into the cargo containers.

  • A 24/7 shift system was implemented to facilitate uninterrupted containerization of export materials.

  • Transactional containerization activities and export document outputs were automated with the implementation of SAP EWM Yard Management and Transportation Unit Management.
